What is the origin of tithes and should you pay tithes today?
In the Old Testament, the tithe was a mandatory 10% offering of agricultural produce and livestock, not money. It was given exclusively to support the tribe of Levi under the law of Moses. When Yeshua established the New Covenant, that system ended.
Tithes were never financial;
Yeshua never requested them;
His apostles never collected them;
The word ‘tithe’ as a requirement does not appear in the New Testament.
